Kristin Landfield - Director of Horticulture

Kristin joined JHGD in 2022, bringing over 20 years of experience in horticulture to our team. She is a garden designer, writer and floral designer whose passion for herbaceous plants brings layered details to both formal and naturalistic plantings. Kristin takes an impressionistic approach to garden design, regarding it as a dynamic medium for creative expression.  There is a narrative in each landscape—the most satisfying gardens are ones in which a personal connection forms a sense of intimacy and ease for those who enjoy them. Kristin's sensitivity to the emotional aspects of landscapes lends an intuitive tone to our team's projects.

Her previous work in Atlanta, California and Western North Carolina reflects her interest in a diverse range of plants, styles and microclimates. However, Kristin grew up in Lexington and Kentucky is where she first fell in love with plants. She remains continually excited about the subtle dance between natural beauty and beautifully built spaces.  Incidentally, Kristin worked for the Hillenmeyers during college, so her role on our team shares a nice parallel with the past.
